Pan European Forest Clearcutting: PEFC-certified old-growth forest destruction in Finland 2002

Photographs in this page: Finnish state-owned old-growth forest in Honkanen area in the municipality of Suomussalmi, eastern Finland. Old-growth forest was fragmented with several clearcuts in January 2002.

According to the Landscape Ecological Plan by the Forest and Park Service, old-growth forests in Honkanen area formed "an uniform and scenic wholeness... based on bracket fungi species, the area is ecologically valuable".
