>>> Lapinlamminvaara (K-5), Suomussalmi

The logging plans of the old-growth forests of Lapinlamminvaara were implemented in February 2001. Over 50 hectares of old-growth forest was clearcut.

The Lapinlamminvaara forest was classified as an A-site when the old-growth forest protection program was prepared. In the landscape ecological planning scattered forest patches covering only about half of the total area were protected. Now dozens of hectares of old-growth forests was clearcut, including very small forest islands in the middle of peatlands.
